"Are you two busy after work?" Paul Riley said to Mickey and Kate who were the only other to people in the CID office that morning. "No why?" Mickey replied not looking up from the computer screen. Kate also said she could. "Oh I just need your help with something that’s all," he said and turned back to his work before Mickey could ask him anything else. His plan would only work if neither of them knew what was going to happen. Throughout the day he could see the two of them getting more and more curious but avoided being put in a situation where he had to tell them any information. After the shift he met them in the yard. "You’ve got to tell us what we’re doing now," Kate said impatiently. "You’ll find out when we get there," Paul said unlocking his car and getting in. Soon they arrived outside a pub, as they got out Paul was met by a girl who got out of another car, then Paul went inside and came out with an older couple who they later found out to be his parents. After the introductions Paul and the girl, who’s name was K, started walking towards the town centre, the others followed on slowly, Paul’s parents were as baffled as Mickey and Kate. "Will you tell us what’s going on," Paul’s dad said as they paused outside a building. Paul took K’s hand, they looked at each other and then Paul said, "We’re getting married." The assembled party of four looked up to see they were outside a registry office and then went in quickly as Paul and K had already disappeared inside. After a while they came back outside with the newly married couple. "You two are mad," Mickey said laughing in excitement. "It has been said before," K said sarcastically, "now where are we going?" "I think we should go to the Alcott and tell everyone else your little secret," Kate said. Paul knew some of the relief and a few of CID would be there but was he wasn’t expecting everyone from the station to be there. "Well well well, we know something's been going on here but what we’re not quite sure what, so if you’d like to fill us in," Superintendent Chandler said on behalf of everyone. Paul paused and then looked at his new wife, "You told them something didn’t you." She grinned cheekily making him smile and then turn round to tell the others but Mickey had got in first and by the time he opened his mouth they were having champagne put in their hands and congratulations were coming from all directions.
