Chrissie left her office and sighed. She didn’t know what to do. It was dinner time so Danny would probably be in the canteen. She went down there and found him sitting with Ben. "Danny I need a word with you urgently."

"Do you want me to go?" Ben asked as Danny leant forward.

"No you’d probably better hear it as well. I’ve just spoken to Sandy. You know her boyfriend, he raped her."

"What," Danny said loudly.

"Calm down, I’ve talked to her, I told her to get changed and freshen up. I’m going to call the police."

"Where is she?" Ben asked.

"She’s in the locker room." The two boys got up and ran up to the ward, they went straight into the locker room and found Sandy sitting on her own. Sandy looked at them as they opened the door and stood up.

"What are you two doing here?" She asked defensively.

"Sandy, Chrissie has spoken to us," Danny said. She looked scared then turned to face out of the window, "About what?" Ben walked slowly up behind her.

"Sandy, we just want to help," he said putting his hand on her shoulder. She turned round and let him hug her. She looked up at Danny who kissed her on the cheek then they all sat down.

"I’m sorry," she said sombrely.

"You’ve got nothing to apologies for," Ben replied instantly.

"You could have told me Sandy," Danny added.

"I didn’t want to talk to anyone and anyway Chrissie’s been looking after me. Has she phoned the police?" They told her she was just doing it. The police soon came and Chrissie came to find her.

"Are you OK? The police are here," she said, Sandy nodded got up and followed her out, "Do you want me to come in with you?" Sandy nodded and the two women went into Chrissie’s office. Back in the locker room Ben and Danny were dumbfounded.

"Bloody Hell," Danny said slowly, "I’m going to kill him."

"You’ll be no use to Sandy if you’re inside as well, just leave it to the police."

"Yeah I know I just can’t believe it."

"Me neither, she doesn’t deserve this, not with all the money problems as well," Ben replied.

"That might have something to do with it, he leant her three thousand pounds to pay back me and Lisa," Danny said.

"Maybe she couldn’t pay him back as quick as he’d like, well we can help her out with that if necessary, get him out of her life for good." After a few minutes Ben went back down to maternity he’d already been away far longer then he should have. When he got there he had obviously been missed.

"Where the hell have you been?" Owen shouted as he walked through the door.

"I’m sorry I had something important to sort out on Darwin," he said apologetically.

"What exactly that is more important then doing your job?"

"Sandy Harper’s been raped." Neither Owen nor Lisa, who was standing next to him, knew what to say.

"Is she OK?" Owen said calmer.

"Yeah Chrissie is looking after her now, what do you want me to do." He and Owen went off to check on her patient, Lisa stood absolutely amazed, she almost felt guilty but she wasn’t sure why.

Back on Darwin the police had finished talking to Sandy, Danny was waiting for her as they came out of the office. "We’d like you to see our police doctor sometime if that’s all right with you? Maybe you could come with us now."
"Um I don’t know," Sandy replied drained from the interview.

"It’s not long till the end of the shift maybe I could take you down there then?" Danny offered. Sandy agreed and the police left.

"Is it all right if I hang around here until the end of the shift then?" Sandy asked turning to Chrissie.

"Yeah sure, if you want to. Stay in my office if you want, help yourself to tea and coffee," she replied then had to go.

During the evening Lisa had to come up to Darwin ward to check on a pregnant patient. She bumped into Danny while she was there, "Ben told me about Sandy, how is she?" She asked. He said she was OK. "The money she paid us back with, that came from him didn’t it?"

"I’ve already thought of that," Danny replied, "I haven’t been able to ask her about it yet, but I’m sure that can’t be all of it, if any of it."

"I hope not, If I hadn’t been such a cow," she replied angrily.

"It’s not your fault, she doesn’t blame us she blames him, we’ve just got to be there for her. Can you tell Ben I’m taking Sandy down to the police station after work, he may want to come."

"Yeah sure." She walked back downstairs still feeling guilty. She told Ben the message.

"Yeah I’ll go with them."

"Weren’t you supposed to be meeting your new bloke tonight?" Lisa asked.

"Oh Tony yeah, you wouldn’t go and meet him for me, explain everything."

"Yeah sure. I was going to get a take away with Danny anyway so that will be off."
