Nikki stopped and took a breath of fresh air. She looked around at the scenery that surrounded the airport. Just looking around she could feel the Thailand culture everywhere and she smiled. The weight she’d been carrying on her shoulders was already starting to lift, she knew she’d done the right thing. She went to walk away when she was nudged in the back by a trolley. “I’m sorry love are you all right?” She heard from behind her in a male English accent. She turned round and found herself looking into the eyes of a tall, blonde, tanned Englishman. “Yeah I’m fine,” she replied not being able to stop herself smiling, “I’ve been having a bit of trouble with these myself,” she added indicating the sling on her arm. “What’s wrong with your arm?” He asked walking up beside her. “It’s paralysed, accident at work,” she replied. “Blimey. Don’t tell me you’ve grabbed the compensation money and gone on a trip round the world?” He said. Nikki looked at him kind of surprised. “Yeah something like that.” “Sorry I didn’t mean it to sound like that. I know about it that’s all,” he replied. He pulled up his trouser leg revealing an artificial leg. “Oh right I see. Look I’ve got to get to my hotel but do you fancy meeting up later?” She said starting her knew carefree streak. He agreed and the talked for a while and realised they were in the same hotel, mainly due to it’s good disabled facilities. They shared a taxi to the hotel then went to their rooms. Nikki unpacked her things and had a look around the room. She had a shower then sat down on the bed and smiled. She had to admit she’d felt apprehensive about coming away. She was travelling to places she’d never been to before and she was on her own. She was still getting used to her arm and she had been scared. She’d felt better once she’d seen the scenery stretch out beneath her whilst on the plane. The events since then had become a bit of a blur but she was happy and had no worries. She checked the time on her watch then picked up the phone. The phone rang and rang then a familiar voice picked up. “Hiya Comfort, it’s Nikki.” Comfort squealed back down the phone. The pair chatted for ages, Nikki told her all about the friend she had made. Afterwards Nikki changed and went down for dinner in the hotel. She walked down the stairs and found her friend from earlier hanging around in the reception area. “You weren’t waiting for me by any chance?” She said to him. He went a bit red and walked towards the dinningroom. “My names Billy by the way,” He said pulling out the chair for Nikki. “I’m Nikki,” she replied almost laughing. They talked all through dinner, she explained what had happened to her arm and he told her how he’d lost his right leg. “I got really depressed after I lost my leg,” Billy said whilst they waited for pudding, “Once I got this artificial one I decided I shouldn’t waste any more of my life and decided to go travelling, I picked the first place the travel company showed me and here I am. How about you?” “I was supposed to go travelling for six months a while ago with my fiancée but it never happened. I had some great friends but other than that nothing was holding me back anymore so I decided to take the chance. Where are you going to next?” she added. He told her he hadn’t decided yet, the same as her. “Look this is a mad idea and tell me if I’m being to forward, but, would you like to travel on together? I mean not together as such, it would be good to have company,” he started stuttering. Nikki smiled back, “I’d love to,” she said, “It seems like a great idea to me.”
