"Hi Jack you all right? I’ll speak to you in a bit yeah," Dillon said as he went into the lift with a patient probably on his way up to x-ray. Jack simply nodded. He’d been bored sitting around at home so he’d thought he would come in and see a few of the others before his outpatients appointment. He’d seen the back of Tony running off to deal with some other problem, Anna had said hello as she’d called out another patients name and got back to work. Jack now knew what the patients felt like after they’d been waiting around for a few hours to be seen. He walked over to the reception desk where some girl was sitting filing her nails, she hadn’t been very helpful which made him feel even more anxious to get back to work. He was just thinking he might as well go again when Lara came up to him. "Hiya stranger how you doing?" She asked and actually waiting around long enough for a reply. They chatted for a bit but had to break the conversation short when Comfort came in with a patient in a wheelchair. "Comfort," Jack said, "Is Nikki outside?" She nodded in reply. He went outside and saw her doing something in the back of the ambulance, he walked other and said hello. She stopped what she was doing to talk to him. "How are you," she asked. "I’m OK, I’m sorry I hurt you." "Just leave it, I’ve got work to do," she said quite angrily. "I was going to bring your tiger back but I left it at home," he replied, she just shrugged it off, "I don’t really want to give it back I’d rather give you these," he said and handed her an envelop. She opened it and took out two plane tickets. "What are these?" "They’re two tickets for you and me to go on safari and see some real tigers," he replied. "Really," she said starting to smile, he nodded enthusiastically, "wow," she replied and rapped her arms around his neck nearly jumping for joy. They went back into the department where it seemed the rush was over and everyone was hanging around in reception. "Hello, what’s going on here," Tony said, he was in on the plan but nobody else knew. Nikki told them quite excitedly and then went running round the department making sure nobody missed out on hearing about it. That night everyone was down the pub as per usually chilling out after a busy shift, most were round the bar, Jack and Nikki were sitting by themselves not quite as close as they normally were but close enough. Time seemed to fly by and it was suddenly the day of departure and both Jack and Nikki were extremely excited as everyone waved them off and they headed for the airport. It had been a bit awkward between the two off them and they had to get used to being with each other again. They had gradually got back to the way they were before and Jack was returning to his normal self for the first time since the operation. Nikki was glad to have him back and appreciated what they had, especially with the impending Safari to look forward to. Now they were actually at the airport and waiting to fly away it felt like all their troubles were behind them and they had no cares in the world. Their flight was called and they headed for the departure gate of their local airport. The sun was out and they had had very little hassle at the airport. They boarded the plane and found their seats. They sat down, Nikki nearest the window. Jack took hold or Nikki’s hand and she looked towards him. "I love you Nikki, you are the most wonderful person in the world," he said genuinely, grinning widely. She smiled back as they leaned to look out of the window as the plane started to roll along the runway and pull away into the sky. "Things can only get better."
